Michael Weir Violin LLC – Studio Policy
Supervision
Students who are younger than 15 years old must attend their lesson with an adult present. Students younger than 15 years old who show up without a supervising adult will be turned away.
Students who are at least 15 years old AND are current high school students (or the homeschool equivalent to high school) are permitted to attend lessons by themselves as long as a parent or guardian attends the first lesson with them.
Please note, there are several security cameras in my studio to ensure proper and accurate legal record of everything that transpires inside.
Attendance
If you are late for a lesson, the lesson will still conclude at the pre-determined time. I have many students, and cannot let tardiness for one lesson push back the start time for all of my other lessons. Your lesson will always start on time.
You are expected to attend every lesson of the semester. If you are going to miss a week for any reason, this must be communicated at least ten days prior to your scheduled lesson in order for it to be rescheduled. Preferably, clients will communicate any lessons they need to miss before the semester even begins in order to provide more time to schedule make-up lessons.
If you need to miss a lesson within ten days of the lesson for any reason other than for an emergency or sickness, that lesson is skipped and not refunded. Please communicate any emergencies right away, and if you are sick, please do NOT come to your lesson. I will happily reschedule your lesson as soon as possible. I realize that life is busy, so I give each of my students one "oops" per semester.
You are more than welcome to bring multiple people to your lesson, however, please keep in mind that everyone who comes to your lesson must be in the studio with us. I do not allow anyone to be in any other part of my house other than the studio when I am teaching. For this reason, it may be wise to bring quiet things for siblings to do if they must come to your lesson with you.
Tuition and Refunds
Tuition is subject to change semester by semester. Currently, tuition is $30 per half-hour lesson and $60 per hour lesson.
Tuition is charged at the beginning of the semester and is due no later than the end of the first week of lessons. Tuition can be paid in person with cash or a check, by mail via cash or check, through Zelle, or through Venmo. Additional details, such as my Venmo username, will be provided on your semester’s invoice, which will be emailed to you a few weeks prior to the start of the semester.
A refund will only be issued if a student is moving or can no longer play their instrument because of injury. My goal is that every student gets the exact number of lessons they paid for each semester.
Behavior Expectations
Parents, guardians, students, and anyone else who enters my home are each expected to behave cordially toward their teacher, the teacher’s helpers, and the other students in the studio. Inappropriate behavior such as bullying, hazing, harassment, foul language, or discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated. Anyone who exhibits inappropriate behavior will be asked to stop. If they do not comply, they will be terminated from the studio. You are expected to treat the studio facilities and materials respectfully and honorably. I believe in a "you break it, you buy it" attitude when it comes to the studio (inside and outside).
